Lillig & Thorsness, Ltd., is pleased to announce that Adrian Mendoza was selected as a 2019 Super Lawyer and Kiley M. Whitty and Angela M. Iaria were recognized as 2019 Super Lawyers Rising Stars in Illinois.
Only 5 percent of lawyers in the state of Illinois are selected as Super Lawyers following a multiphase selection process which includes peer nominations and evaluations, and independent research. A mere 2.5 percent of Illinois lawyers are selected to the Super Lawyers Rising Stars list each year. Qualifying attorneys must be 40 years old or younger, or in practice for 10 years or less.
Adrian Mendoza is the head of Lillig & Thorsness, Ltd.’s litigation team and concentrates his practice in the areas of complex civil and commercial litigation. Admitted to practice in Illinois, Indiana and the District of Columbia, Mr. Mendoza has tried numerous cases in state and federal courts around the country. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in finance from DePaul University and obtained his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School. Mr. Mendoza is a member of the Defense Research Institute, the Illinois State Bar Association and serves as a director of the Greater Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce.
Kiley M. Whitty leads the firm’s family law practice and handles issues relating to complex divorce litigation, parentage, legal separation, and child support. She also negotiates premarital and post-marital agreements. Ms. Whitty graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and speech communication from Miami University and went on to earn her J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where she was named to the Dean’s List and earned certificates in Family Law and Trial Advocacy. She is a Past President of the DuPage Association of Women Lawyers and is currently the Third Vice President of the DuPage County Bar Association, having previously served on the Board of Directors, the Planning Committee, Budget Committee, and on the Executive Committee as the Assistant Treasurer. Ms. Whitty is also a member of the Illinois State Bar Association. Whitty has been named an Emerging Lawyer by Illinois Leading Lawyers for the last 5 years and she has also been named to The National Advocates Top 40 under 40 List for Matrimonial and Family Law in Illinois.
Angela M. Iaria concentrates her practice in the areas of civil litigation, family law and real estate. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in political science from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and earned her J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan, where she was named to the Dean’s List. Ms. Iaria is admitted to practice law in both Illinois and Wisconsin. She is the Second Vice President of the DuPage Association of Women Lawyers and she is an active member of the DuPage County Bar Association, currently serves as a member of the Judiciary Committee, and has been involved as a member and chair of several other committees. Ms. Iaria is also a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Wisconsin State Bar Association.
